Pedro Rodrigues Barreto
I am a 38-year-old Brazilian-trained physiotherapist, proudly Nordestino (from Brazil’s Northeast region), currently practising at Outback Therapy in Lightning Ridge, NSW. I relocated from the Newcastle/Charlestown area to bring physiotherapy services to this remote outback community.
Qualification and Professional Development
I studied physiotherapy in Brazil from 2007 to 2011. Since then, I have completed a Master’s in Medical Sciences, a specialisation in Chronic Pain, and courses in scoliosis management (Rigo Concept) and first aid. I also have experience doing voluntary work with indigenous communities in Brazil.
Clinical areas of interest
Chronic pain, structural design, electrotherapy, laser therapy, and research.
What are some of your favourite approaches to therapy?
A combination of electrotherapy and exercises.
What is your favourite thing about working at Outback Therapy?
I love taking care of my patients and seeing them improve.
