LITERACY

Literacy involves awareness of how words are formed and components of words. It involves an understanding of the relationship between letters and sounds and breaking words up into syllables/ sounds. Literacy skills are vital for reading and writing and are taught at preschool and school.

Some people may need more support to understand literacy concepts and our speech pathology team can work with them to develop their literacy skills, leading to a better understanding of words and therefore improved reading and writing skills!
